The Knitted Doctor Who Scarf is Complete!!!

First of all: NO I HAVE NOT SEEN DOCTOR WHO BEFORE. That will answer all doctor Who related questions :D
Disregard my hair HAHA! I will upload fancy and official photos tomorrow :D
And yes I will take orders for the scarf on Etsy, I'll let you know when.
#doctorwho  #handmade #madeitmyself #commentifyouwantone
Finished the Doctor Who Scarf! It's really long, will upload official Etsy pics tomorrow probably.

How Long?

Don't ask how long. I worked on it on and off for weeks. I could've finished a lot sooner, but I had school work and other crochet orders to take care of.

Who's it for?

A Doctor Who loving friend that I know. I'll call her Valerie.. When she found out that I could knit, she immediately asked, "Can you make me a Doctor Who Scarf??" Of course I said yes. Her sister said that it would take a while, but I knit at an okay speed, and I used purl stitch, I don't like the knit stitch really. I probably forgot how to do it by now XD

Want to know where I got the pattern from:

I used size 10 knitting needles, and I cast on 32 stitches.
Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver
Medium Thyme
Warm Brown
Gold
Dark Orchid
Buff
Carrot
Charcoal

Yes his wedding! So he ordered eight yesterday after days of discussing color combinations. So I made this lovely listing picture for him:

So if you want groomsmen outfit ideas, especially in these cold months that are coming up, consider beard hats. here's my link to my Etsy beard hats page:

So I recently got a better camera! It's the Canon Rebel XS, my first DSLR camara! Crochet Pants, Leggings, or Shorts FREE PATTERN!

A while ago I was looking for crochet pants patterns. ALL I found were shorts patterns... Then Ravelry came along and showed me a pattern for "The Warmest Camouflage Tights." Can I use them for pants? Of course! In the picture I have I'm not wearing leggings under them, but I do wear leggings underneath now because of "holes" in the pant legs.
Here is the pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-warmest-camouflage-tights
To my surprise, she featured my photo on the home page of the pattern:
Yes, mismatched socks ARE awesome...
I decided to make one half gray, and the other black. Take that Hot Topic!
I'm currently making a second pair for my sister, a few months ago I started and only finished one leg.. So she is now forcing me to complete it, which I should have done a long time ago. When they are complete I will most likely post a picture of them.

This pattern can be shortened so that you can make shorts, I made some that went to my knees. The yarn I used was too skinny, and it didn't satisfy me, so no pictures of that! Now that I think of it, these should be done in some nice, soft Red Heart Yarn... Sounds like a plan.

I'm thinking about making a whole matching crochet outfit.. My next few posts should be about the dresses I made! I'll have to put that on my blog to do list, I'll have to create that list first, though XD I hope you enjoy the free pattern!

When Technology Goes Off, The Mind Turns On - Extra Long Santa Hat

When I was looking for a pattern for a long Santa/Christmas hat, I was politely told to take a break from technology.. Which meant no more pattern hunting for the day. SO, I had to rely on my mind to come up with a pattern. So I started from the bottom of the hat and measured my head to get a size. Then I crocheted in the round and decreased when I thought the timing was appropriate. The hat turned out WAY better than I excepted. Then I ribbed the bottom of the hat, and added a large pom pom(not perfectly round as I hoped) to the end of it.
In the future I would like to make a much longer, this will mean more contemplating on where I should decrease :( But it shouldn't be that bad I suppose.
So here is how it turned out:
As I said, I want a longer one...
I will write down the pattern soon, and probably make it available for everyone, since I personally don't like buying patterns.
This hat could be a sleepy time hat, a santa hat, an extended pixie hat, or all of the above. Any other suggestions?

Using Cross Stitch or ANY Grid Pattern For Crochet

Most crocheters know that you can use graphs to create designs for crochet, this is called tapestry crochet. Other than making squares and sewing them together, doing single crochet can also create the design. Still confused?
For example:
(I'm a huge Kirby fan)

This could be a tapestry crochet pattern, or a cross stitch pattern. All you have to do is use single crochet to create this, it's very easy! If you already know how to use graphs, good for you! If not, there are plenty tutorials and videos on how to do it. But that's not ALL!
You can also use images such as these:

Every bead = 1 single crochet = or one crochet square(you could make a rug!) All you have to do is get some graph paper and draw the design.
The possibilities are endless! And making your own designs on graph paper is easy. Pinterest is a great place to find images like these, or just Google Image searching! I hope that I have enlightened you on crochet designs that you can make, and hopefully you will use them in the future to make fantastical creations! ANY QUESTIONS = COMMENT

Wiggly Crochet Anyone? With Links for How-To

Pinterest is a gift from Heaven! I was feeling uninspired for the longest time, I couldn't figure out what I wanted to crochet!!! Then came Wiggly Crochet! It's looks so cool, to me at least. It may look a bit confusing but I got the hang of it VERY quickly.

^This is the site I used when I first started, but there are plenty videos on Youtube that may be more helpful. I prefer this site though for picture tutorials: http://made-in-k-town.blogspot.com/2011/09/wiggly-tutorial-1.html

^This site has a LOT of pictures of wiggly crochet, great for inspiration!

I think that these would work great is you put pots on them, I think they are called hot pads. I plan on making a whole bunch of them, and sewing them together to make a rug for my room!
Here are some pictures of Wiggly Crochet that I have done so far:

This one is my favorite!

Quite interesting colors.
This is one that I am currently working on.
So what are you waiting for? Start Wiggling!

Plastic Bags = Yarn Alternative! Save the earth!

Plarn Bag

Making yarn out of plastic is a great idea! If you are a big recycling fan, this is will make you the ultimate recycler crafter! This is another one of those things that you can learn off of Youtube. So instead of throwing those thousands of grocery bags away a month, use them for the sake of crafting, and, not to mention, nature!
When I don't know what to make out of a new stitch, or type of yarn, I always make a bag! So here is some pictures of my plarn bag:

T Shirts = Yarn Alternative! Extra Sturdy and fun to do!

T-Yarn/Sharn Bag

I've finally gotten over my lazy streak and decided to finish my T-Yarn Tote Bag. My sister calls it sharn(shirt-yarn), and I think that's an appropriate name. Making yarn out of old t-shirts is actually really easy to do, you can just look up videos on Youtube! Preferable shirts are ones without side seams, because those get very annoying when cutting the shirt.

You have to use a larger hook when crocheting with this type of yarn, I used a 9mm hook to make my bag.  Sharn is really nice, it's also thick and sturdy so don't worry about the yarn being torn or anything like that~
Here are some pictures:
The bag is sturdy enough to hold books
I cut off the bottom hems of the shirts, tied them together, and used them as the bag's straps
